Mclaren Vale
Amongst some of the most beautiful scenery on the Fleurieu Peninsula, lies another rich and fertile valley, 45 mins south of Adelaide. There are just under a hundred cellar doors. The McLaren Vale wine region is renowned for its quality Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet and many different red and white Mediterranean varietals. The McLaren Vale region is blessed with amazing fine wines, stunning award-winning restaurants, craft brewers and gin distillers. There is a vibrant arts scene, local produce markets, almonds and olives. Five minutes away are some of South Australia’s most beautiful, pristine and sandy beaches. All of this, so close to the Adelaide CBD. There is certainly a splash of Italian, with vineyards alongside the beaches, the region takes on a “Mediterranean vibe”. I believe McLaren Vale should be a “must see” when in Adelaide, and great for a weekend away to spend exploring its offerings and gorgeous coastline.
